Lynnley’s mother, Madeleine Bayless, tells us that the two began riding together when she decided to re-enter the world of showing after a hiatus. “When I was young, I was a typical girl bitten by the horse bug,” Madeleine explains. “I didn’t come from a horse family, but I started taking lessons.” It wasn’t long before the Bayless family purchased a horse, and she started showing under the guidance of Vickie Kent. “I grew up showing with Vickie, and like so many of us, I took a break as a young adult.”
Several years ago, Madeleine decided to pursue her love for horses again, this time alongside her daughter, Lynnley. She says, “When Lynnley was about six, we started taking lessons at a local hunter barn close to our home.”
Lynnley says it was around that time she developed a fear of falling off and stopped riding altogether. “After that, I left horses,” Lynnley says. Luckily for young Lynnley, horses hadn’t left her.
