PMG press release by: Emily Riden
Following rave reviews last year, Florida Gold Coast Quarter Horse Show Circuit management is pleased to once again welcome world class trail clinician Tim Kimura of Oak Point, TX. Kimura will be designing the horse shows’ trail courses and conducting clinics throughout the circuit, which will run December 27-31, 2013.
The Florida Gold Coast Quarter Horse Shows will be held at the Florida State Fairgrounds’ Bob Thomas Equestrian Center in Tampa, FL. The circuit will feature five full days of class offerings including hunters, equitation, reining, western pleasure, trail riding, driving, showmanship and halter classes. With the horse show ending on December 31, the circuit’s six shows provide an ideal opportunity for exhibitors to accumulate final year end American Quarter Horse Association points.
It also provides the ideal opportunity to partake in a clinic with Kimura. Kimura’s clinics will be held twice during the week – first on December 27 at 8 a.m., prior to Trail Section A, and again on December 28 at 8 a.m. prior to Trail Section B. Kimura will also offer the same clinics the following week at the Gulf Coast Quarter Horse Circuit, running January 1-6, 2014.
Nicknamed the “Man of Trail,” Kimura has been a trail course designer for over 25 years, and he draws roughly 100 trail patterns each year for events across the globe. Riders participating in Kimura’s clinics throughout the shows will have the opportunity to learn about improving their trail scores, managing the pattern smoothly and effectively, transitioning between obstacles, maneuvering through and over all elements and much more.
“In the 80s, trail was kind of boring. They had slow maneuvers with a lot of backing and side steps,” Kimura explained previously. “I came from more of a reining background, and so I implemented that and made faster, more upbeat patterns. They have more poles and agility obstacles, so it’s faster and easier to watch. The level of horses, riders and trainers has gone up so much, and this is one of the strongest events you will see at the horse shows now.”
The Florida Gold Coast Quarter Horse Show is one of Kimura’s favorite stops each year. “The weather’s nice out there, and it’s a good time of year,” Kimura said. “It’s the end of one year and the beginning of the next year with a lot of chances to show in trail and participate in the clinics. It offers a multitude of good things to end the year and to kick off the brand new year.”
Tim Kimura recently released his brand new Man of Trail instructional DVD. For more information on the DVD and on Tim Kimura please visit www.facebook.com/TimKimuraManOfTrail?fref=ts.
