Last week, you may have seen our interview with Kim Farrell when she gave EquineChronicle.com readers a behind-the-scenes look at the debut of the National Quarter Horse League classes at Fox Lea Farm’s Winter Circuit in Venice, Florida. Now that the show has concluded and the final scores have been tabulated, we would like to present the winners of the first set of NQHL classes for 2014.
NQHL classes offered at the show included Amateur Equitation Over Fences, $2,500 Open Trail Derby, $500 Freestyle Horsemanship, $2,500 Open Hunter Derby, $1,000 Low Hunter Derby- Non Pro, Youth Equitation Over Fences- The Equine Chronicle Medal, and $1,000 Open Low Hunter Derby.
First up in the Amateur Equitation Over Fences, judge Robin Frid decided that Hannah Elizabeth Bedwell with Regal To A Te deserved the first place spot. Coming in second was Morgan Parisek with Better Buy The Minit. Third place was Kelsea Hull with Larks Big Leaguer. Fifth place was Kelly Moore with I’m Bonnie Blue.
In the $2,500 Open Trail Derby, Garry McAllister piloted Hot Rod Number Eight to a first place finish. Coming in second was Mark Stevens with Investin A Goodbar. Stephanie Armellini took both third and fourth place with RV Flashy N Radical and Rae Make Me A Bryer, respectively. Fifth place was Andrey Ferreir with Zips Simply Sweet.
Determining the winner of the $500 Freestyle Horsemanship was judge Chris Jones. His pick for the top spot was Ashley Nicole Roach with Zip Skip And Strut. Second place was Makayla Flowers with Formally Yours. Third place was Micayla Bragg with JDG Invited By Chip.
Judge Mary Eufemea officiated over the largest NQHL class of the show, the $2,500 Open Hunter Derby, which saw Lainie DeBoer and Naturally Broke in first place position. Second place was Kelsea Hull with Larks Big Leaguer. Third place was Mandy Myers with Deep Blue Skys. Fourth place was Linda Crothers with Star For A Day. Rounding out the top five was Lindsey Whitehead with Skys Blue Sequel.
In the $1,000 Low Hunter Derby Non-Pro division, Diane Andersen won first place with All Inspiring. Second was Alexis Hart with EBG Classic Maneuver. Third was Alesia Singer with Star For A Day. Fourth was Lori Bucholz with Larks Happy Days. Fifth was Ashley Beim with PS Rusty Bay Doc.
In the Youth Equitation Over Fences- The Equine Chronicle Medal class, Kristin Hull and Into The Blue took the first place position. Second place was Lindsey Whitehead with Skys Blue Sequel. Third was Mandy Myers with Deep Blue Skys. Fourth was Grace Baum with No Longer Captive. Fifth was Kylie Shoe with O Aint I Somthin.
The $1,000 Open Low Hunter Derby class saw Lainie DeBoer win first with Regal Tequila, Cindy Reddish come in second with Ima Hot Iron, and Lee Paul Shinn take third with Pact With Assets.
