Why Buy a Horse in the 2013 Reichert Celebration Sale? $2,031,784 in Total Stakes Prize Money to Date is a Pretty Good Reason

The 2013 Reichert Celebration Sale is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Thursday, September 5th, in Fort Worth, Texas and will continue through September 7th. The first portion of the sale on Thursday will begin at 4:00 pm with POA yearlings and POA show ponies being offered for the public’s consideration. Then, on Saturday at 9:00 am broodmares, show horses, hunter under saddle yearlings, embryos, and western prospect yearlings will all be offered to the highest bidders.

Why put a horse in or buy a horse out of the 2013 Reichert Celebration Sale? Just in case you weren’t paying close attention last night, here’s a little recap that might provide you with a few incentives…

In yesterday evening’s Equine Sports Medicine 2-Year-Old Non Pro Open Western Pleasure Stakes, Adam Kober of California and Lope The Line were the unanimous choice of the judges and received a $9,000 check for first place. The pair also received an award saddle and flowered neck wreath. None of that would’ve been possible if Kober hadn’t bought the mare by Lazy Loper at the Reichert Sale last year.

“We bought this horse last year at the Reichert sale,” Kober says. “I didn’t know anything about her. I was coming out of a class with my previous horse, and Katie [Green] walked up to me and said we needed to talk. She said she found this horse and that it was awesome.”

Kober wasn’t the only exhibitor who came away with an impressive check for his efforts. Nancy Ditty and Courtney Chown tied for second and third place and were each presented with a check for $4,725. For achieving the fourth place finish, Linda Berwick won a check for $2,200. For her fifth place finish, Sara Heeley received $1,350. Heather Marie Bergantzel and Liz Hay tied for sixth and seventh each winning $700.

And that was just the first of many stakes classes being offered here at the Reichert. If you would like to take a look at all of the horses in the sale this year, particularly the yearlings that will be eligible for stakes incentives in 2014, the sale catalog is now online.
