Did you wait until the last minute and have nothing to give your barn-mates or horse-loving better half? Never fear, we’ve got you covered!
Step 1- Pick up some horseshoe shaped chocolates or cookies (homemade is great, but U-shaped butter cookies dipped in chocolate work great in a pinch!) Plenty of novelty stores and chocolatiers have horse-themed treats already made.
Step 2- Place a few in a small plastic treat bag and tie with a red ribbon.
Step 3- Print a label or use a handwritten tag with one of the following fun horsey sayings that we’ve come up with. Emphasize the play on words by highlighting in red ink.
Step 3 (option)- If your valentine likes flowers, instead of chocolate, pick a phrase below and attach it to a bundle of red roses.
If you’re a bit more crafty, these adorable horse cookies are easy to make.
Step 1- Coat a Nutter Butter cookie in melted chocolate. Apply a mini Nilla Wafer for the nose.
Step 2- Use melted white and/or dark chocolate in a piping bag to add markings and a forelock.
Step 3– Use melted chocolate to attach chocolate-covered almonds (cut in half) for the ears.
Step 4- Stick on candy eyes, which can be found at any craft store.
Have a very Happy Valentine’s Day from The Equine Chronicle!
