The 2018 March To The Arch charity horse show kicked off in St. Louis, Missouri to much fanfare last Wednesday as AQHA exhibitors, trainers, judges, and vendors all gathered in an effort to raise as much money as possible for cancer research. In years past, the event has racked up a whopping total of over $650,000, most of which has been donated to the local St. Louis Children’s Hospital. In addition to a live auction, dinner party, and calcutta, the competition proved to be fierce this year, and a number of big winners went home with impressive checks for their efforts. Angie Rigdon Cannizzaro and The Production Line won the $7,500 3 and Over Novice Horse Western Pleasure, taking home a $4,207.50 check for Mary Jo and Dwain Gold. The Reserve Champion was Casey Willis with KM Thenextbestthing, winning $3,341.25 for Masterson Farms, LLC. The Intermediate division Champion and winner of $1,000 was Denton Debuhr with Born A Hot Loper for Bill and Cindy Cosentino. Mallory Menard rode Just Plain Sleepy to win the Limited division and a $1,000 check.
Over in the English pen, the $500 3 and 4-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle, the champion was Lynda Danielson with Hoos At The Girls, winning $327 for Robyn and Emma Garcia. The Reserve Champion was Alyse Roberts with Al Les in Wonderland, winning $248 for Starland Ranch, LLC. Third was Laura Spell with Its All In The Timing for Jill Stenroos.
Over the weekend, a number of additional NSBA Futurity champions were crowned. Alyse Roberts rode Full Iron Corset to win 3 & 4-Year-Old Level 1 Hunter Under Saddle and $1,170. The Reserve Champion was Katie Buff with Only After You, winning $919. Third was Laura Spell with Still Scenic, wining $520 for Taylor Kokemiller. Fourth was Carly Parks with Check Required, for Cynthia Figueroa. Fifth was Lynda Danielson with Hoos At The Girls. Murphy Milder rode Ill Be In The Irons to win All Age Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle and $580. The Reserve Champion was Emma Garcia with HRZ Elegant and Blue. Mallory Menard rode Rite Off The Batt to win both the 3 and 4-Year-Old Non Pro Western Pleasure and All Age Non Pro Western Pleasure.
Class sizes remained consistent over the weekend with larger sizes seen in the leveled events.
