The U.S. government has filed a response to former comptroller of Dixon, IL. Rita Crundwell’s request to retain ownership of nearly 700 horse show trophies and other personal possessions including show clothing, artwork, and recreational vehicles.
The government’s reply responded to three arguments presented by Crundwell’s attorney that contested the inclusion of her possessions in a court forfeiture order. First, the government indicated that allowing Crundwell to keep the trophies would allow her to benefit from the theft, because they “represent the primary motivation of her massive fraud.”
