Exciting Updates to NRHyA Stallion Auction

Oklahoma City, Okla. – NRHA press release by Hayley Lewallen – The National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA) is excited to announce changes to the NRHyA Stallion Auction held annually during the NRHA Futurity. Starting in 2013, all offspring resulting from breedings purchased through the NRHyA Stallion Auction will be recognized as NRHA Sire & Dam offspring.

Allowing the NRHyA Stallion Auction to be processed through the Sire & Dam Program will allow both mare and stallion owners to receive more benefits than offered in previous years. In addition to these benefits both parties will have greater clarification about the breeding terms and conditions since the Sire & Dam contract will be used.

Stallion owners who donate a breeding to the youth stallion auction will be eligible to qualify for Sire Awards which includes a cash payout and a Lawson trophy at both the NRHA Futurity and Derby. Mare owners will have the opportunity to purchase breedings to some of the equine industry’s highest quality stallions all while supporting a great cause. The resulting offspring will be eligible for later entry dates into the NRHA Futurity and Derby as well as reduced entry fees for both events. These great benefits often lead to a higher value for the resulting offspring and aid in selling a horse sooner.

The youth program is currently accepting breeding donations from stallion owners for the 2013 youth stallion auction. If you are interested in donating a breeding, please contact Hayley Lewallen at (405)946-7400 or at hlewallen@nrha.com.
