Nutrena AQHA West L1 Championship Award Placing Updates

Upon final processing of results at the Nutrena AQHA West L1 Championship, it was determined that a few horses who had shown in Rookie Amateur and Rookie Youth classes were ineligible. Unfamiliar with all the qualifying criteria, some exhibitors mistakenly entered and showed in those classes. The horses have been disqualified and the official results placings with AQHA have been updated.

We would like to congratulate the achievements of the following exhibitors who will be receiving their new Championship trophies.

The 2022 Rookie Amateur Western Riding Reserve Champion is Robin Bergam riding Secured Return. Sabrina Brown and Hocus Boston Flame will be trading their 4th place ribbon for a bronze trophy, taking third.

The other class that saw some adjustments to placing was the Rookie Youth Hunter Under Saddle. Reese Byers and I’ll B At The Bar has been named Champion. Reagan Shell and Dark By Moonlight are now the Reserve Champions. Macy Finney and RRed Solo Cup moved into the third place position.

While it is ultimately the responsibility of the exhibitor to keep track of eligibility, we recognize that misunderstandings can arise. All Rookie eligibility is based on lifetime points and earnings by class for horse and rider. It can sometimes be challenging to keep track of all the moving pieces, especially for exhibitors who are at the beginning stages of their showing experience. All exhibitors are encouraged to review AQHA and other relevant association rules regarding eligibility for any designation. Association and show staff are always happy to answer questions and assist in the learning process.

We sincerely apologize for any errors made during the awards presentation.
