Updated Eligibility For River Oaks Ranch Super Stakes

From WCHA:

To start with I want to share that we made a few “additional” changes to our River Oaks Ranch Super Stakes…….. and we also reduced the entry fees into our All Age Limited Stakes Classes !!!.
First of all let me share with you what I feel our “limited” classes do for our halter industry:
  1. You’re all familiar with horse racing,  they have various races for all classes of horses at every race meet across the country ranging from $2500 Claiming to featured races with million dollar purses.  The racing industry figured out decades ago that if there were only races for the elite runners thousands of lesser/slower horses would not have any value whatsoever.   I feel it’s important that our halter industry has events to support the “middle” horses so that the hundreds of horses we raise each year have value as well and can compete for significant purses and prizes.   These “middle” or unproven horses move up in competition but need incentives to encourage participation.  So that’s been my thought process behind our Limited Stakes classes that we offer at our WCHA Breeder’s Futurity,  our Big Money Futurity for two year old and older horses.   And now our Limited Stakes within each and every class we are offering at our Supreme Championship Show.   With June’s Rhea’s support within the RIVER OAKS RANCH SUPER STAKES we are doing a combined “Limited Stakes”  and a “Maiden Class” for yearlings so that horses who didn’t excel in the weanling futurities last fall or placed in TOP 5 at a World Show could compete on level playing field with other yearlings within our Supreme Championship Show.
  2. After our first draft of rules/conditions was sent out we listened to the feedback from you our members and we made some adjustments to the eligibility within the River Oaks Super Stakes that will allow more horses to compete but still stay true to the original concept,  read the entire entry form but to summarize we made the following changes:
  1. We reduced the eligibility for horses who DID NOT place in Top 15 in our WCHA Breeders & Big Money & Junior Slot Classes to TOP 5,  to be consistent we are also changing the “could not have competed at a World Show in AQHA -APHA – ApHC to: could not have placed in TOP 5 within AQHA/APHA/ApHC world show competition.  (this does not include a Solid APHA World Class)
  1. Secondly……… we feel the Maiden Division is a very important piece of this stakes.   Horses who DID NOT compete last year as weanlings in the any futurity across the country we wanted to give them a “do-over” so we have a Maiden Division within the Limited Division of the River Oaks Ranch Super Stakes.  (A maiden could have competed this year as a yearling in a ‘breed show” so long as they haven’t earned any money)  To enhance this division WCHA will add an additional $10,000 to the maiden division so that EACH Sex Division has $5,000 Added to their purses.  ($5,000 Added to Maiden Yr Stallions, $5,000 to Maiden Yr Mares, $5,000 to Maiden Yr Geldings)……. This brings the total “added money” to $50,000 in River Oaks Ranch Super Stakes with an estimated payouts of over $75,000.  No office fees……. Miss June’s request is to pay as deep as possible in these non pro class.  Youth can compete with a mare or a gelding too !!!  By increasing the purses for the Maiden Classes we feel this will give additional value to weanlings that don’t compete this fall as they look forward to this Maiden class next year.  (Read entry form for complete rules and conditions)   I also extended the entry deadline by 10 days but please don’t wait until the last couple days to enter so that Berta is overwhelmed in processing everyone the last week.
  1. If a horse doesn’t comply with the Limited rules in the River Oaks Ranch Super Stakes they most likely CAN COMPETE in the Open Yearling Limited Classes if they haven’t won a world or reserve world title,  furthermore if you compete in the River Oaks Super Stakes you can also enter the Open Limited Stakes with either an amateur or open exhibitor.

We are offering LIMITED STAKES within EACH and EVERY class offered in all three breeds within EVERY age class except for amateur yearling because the River Oaks Super Stakes fulfills that class !!!!  We have REDUCED the entry fees into these stakes classes from $300 to $250 !!!!  No OFFICE FEES,  100% of entry fees and sponsorship dollars going into the purses !!!

This is going to be a great event “for halter” but we need your support to make it successful so we can do again next year and the years thereafter!!!   A “Championship Show” where you can bring every horse in your barn because we have classes for every horse within AQHA, APHA and ApHC…….. 4 sets of points in each breed !!!   Horses can earn halter points,  MONEY,  title of WCHA Supreme Champion,  great prizes and owners and exhibitors will have a great time at a social events planned for every day !!!

Many of you remember how the AQHA’s Incentive Fund program was so rewarding because if you paid an enrollment fee at the beginning of the year when your horses earned a point or two at your weekend horse show you knew at end of year you would get some money back to help pay for stalls, entries and travel expenses.  That Incentive Program is long gone……… however with this event we are reviving that with our stakes classes within each class!!  Come compete in your breed class with opportunity to earn both money AND POINTS and get quarter horses can get qualified for your world show.

Sponsorships:  We will be sharing with you on Facebook names of our generous members who have donated money so that this event is successful for everyone,  we could still use your help.
