WACO, Texas – The United Equestrian Conference announced its inaugural Riders of the Week on Wednesday, following the opening weekend of the 2018-19 college equestrian season. The UEC is the first conference to recognize Riders of the Week.
EQUITATION ON THE FLAT RIDER OF THE WEEK
Haley Zimmerman • SMU
- Went 2-0 for the Mustangs with one MOP, with both wins coming on the road.
- Opened the season with a 72-67 win over her opponent from Sweet Briar College while being named MOP.
- Earned a 58-44 win over her South Carolina opponent. Her 14-point margin of victory over South Carolina was the largest in equitation on the flat.
EQUITATION OVER FENCES RIDER OF THE WEEK
Nora Gray • SMU
- Went 2-0 for the Mustangs with one MOP, with both wins coming on the road.
- Opened the season with a 77-73 win over her opponent from Sweet Briar College.
- Claimed MOP honors with a 88-86 victory over her South Carolina opponent. Her score of 88 was the highest Equitation Over Fences score and the highest Hunter Seat score of the meet.
HORSEMANSHIP RIDER OF THE WEEK
Haylee Schoonover • SMU
- Went 1-0 for the Mustangs with one MOP.
- Opened the season with a 75-71.5 victory on the road over her South Carolina opponent while also picking up MOP honors.
- Her score of 75 was the highest Horsemanship score of the meet.
- Her 3.5-point margin of victory was the largest margin of victory by a Horsemanship rider during the meet.
REINING CO-RIDERS OF THE WEEK
Noel Meadows • UT Martin
- Went 1-0 for the Skyhawks.
- Earned a 67-65.5 victory on the road over her Auburn opponent.
Savannah Ostner • SMU
- Went 1-0 for the Mustangs.
- Earned a 69.5-62 victory on the road over her South Carolina.
- Broke an 8-8 tie and won the meet-clinching point for SMU.
