Friday, June 21st, 2013 has marked the first day of summer, meaning beach inspired vacations, sunbathing, and days lounging at the pool are officially upon us. To celebrate, I thought I’d bring forth some of the best equine-print swimsuits and beach accessories on the market.

First up, Ted Baker London. I was doing a little “shop” searching on Asos.com and came across a Ted Baker Wild Horses Bandeau Swimsuit. It’s a 50s inspired cut with halter-neck straps and a stylish cutout in the back. If you visit the actual Ted Baker website at www.tedbaker-london.com, you will find a small Wild Horses collection that includes a bikini and a swimsuit cover-up. Not to mention the entire Ted Baker website is having an “Up to 50% off sale.”

Next is designer swimsuit and swimwear website, We Are Handsome (www.wearehandsome.com). They’re an Australian-based boutique with a world-wide following, available online as well as high-end retailers that you can find on their website. What sets this duo design team apart from others is their ability to create images rather than limiting themselves to a single print that appears continuously on the same piece. Their designs can get a bit kooky at times, but I just can’t get their mustang-print bandeau bikini out of my head. Its balconette bikini top cut works as the perfect shape-maker and the bottoms complete the singular picture with a heard of wild mustangs.

No beach look is complete without a pair of very large, overstated sunglasses, and I have a few options that will complete your equine inspired look to a tee.

Burberry is one of my all-time favorite designers. What’s not to love? They specialize in outdoor wear, they’re on the lower price end of high-end fashion, and they are quintessentially British. In 1901, the company adopted the Equestrian Knight logo, inspiring equestrian based fashions throughout their history. I can’t think of a better example than their Equestrian Knight Exalted Sunglass collection. You can find some awesomely priced glasses at their discount online store, www.burberrybagsstore.net.

Gucci has had moments of equine inspiration and their rectangular framed sunglasses with bit detailing serves as the perfect showcase. These babies are only $129. No excuses on this one, I know most of us have spent more than that on a pair once or twice in the past.
