As 2016 quickly draws to a close, we’d like to thank our loyal readers for making EquineChronicle.com one of the most consistently  visited and widely respected equine news websites in the industry! We enjoy bringing you daily news about the topics you care about.

Let’s count down the Top 10 most popular stories on EquineChronicle.com for 2016.

IMG_8237-copy#10How Unsolicited, Mean-Spirited Criticism Hurts the Horse Industry– In the tenth spot is a story from 2015 that was so popular it’s still trending this year! In fact, this blog was the #1 story on our list from last year. This piece encouraging all equestrians to “think before they type” struck a cord with our readers.

“The bottom line is we all mount a horse the same way. No matter what race we are, or what breed we favor, we are all part of one equestrian community. We need to convey a positive image to our youth riders and newcomers to the sport. We don’t have to agree with everything involved in one another’s riding disciplines. However, we DO need to try harder to keep from mere gossip and negativity. Think before you type. Your negative comments might do more than just hurt someone’s feelings.”

“He was the international rags to riches story that won the hearts of America and the world. A Dutch-bred gelding destined for slaughter who proved too high-spirited for a job pulling a city carriage, then plucked from obscurity by one of the greatest four-in-hand drivers in history. He became a champion whose steel shoes were gifted to Prince Phillip by President Obama, and who was commemorated as a Breyer® horse model.”

“Today, the horse world will link arms and bow our heads to a fallen sister, friend, and fellow horse lover. Tomorrow, however, we will raise our heads and continue our lives. The ache in my chest will still be there, but Kiley would want us to move on. For those of you showing or heading to a show, dedicate every ride you have to Kiley, to what she loved, and to the life she lived.”

However, years ago, when he bought a scrawny, grulla filly off the back of a kill truck for $200, he likely never imagined that one day she would become a three-time Congress Champion.”
