When Tim Finkenbinder purchased weanling filly Intended Too for clients David and Kathy Williams, he suspected she’d have a bright future. However, he couldn’t have predicted the level of success she’d achieve at such an early age.
“I bought her prior to the Iowa Breeders’ Futurity, and she won the Iowa Open and Amateur and also won the WCHA Futurity in Tunica, MS, so she’s done really well this fall,” Finkenbinder says.
Intended Too is by My Intention and out of an Obvious-bred mare named BBS Prissy Girl; the filly was bred by Chris and Amy Page of Independence, MO. Last week, she placed fourth in Amateur Weanling Fillies with owner Kathy Williams at the lead.
“This filly is unique,” Finkenbinder says. “She’s big, strong, and to me, she’s really ideal. She is great-legged. The quality was tough today. The top five fillies were really good. I had a good feeling, but you never know…”
Looking towards 2015, Finkenbinder believes this filly will have a promising future as a show horse.
“There is a bad reputation for babies that win the World, because people say they don’t turn out, but I think this one will,” he says. “She’s big and strong and has a lot of growth. She’s got a future; she will be back.”
Coming up later today, Finkenbinder will be competing in Three-Year-Old Mares and Three-Year-Old Geldings. Tomorrow, he will compete in Yearling Colts, Two-Year-Old Stallions, and Performance Halter Stallions.
