Horse people are the best people! Not only do they engage in hardworking endeavors that keep our industry moving forward, but they also engage in epic pranks in the spirit of fun. Sometimes pranks take a lot of planning and preparation, and sometimes they are conducted in a moment of opportunity. Pranks amongst friends can build stronger relationships and induce fits of laughter upon reminiscence.
Ty Elrod & Megan Neugebauer vs. Colton & Val Smith
One late night several years ago at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress, Megan and Ty found themselves tired and silly, waiting for their allocated ride time in a main arena. They had stalled with Colton and Val Smith that year, and in their bored and deliriously tired state, a prank presented itself so perfectly to them that there was no choice but to act.
Colton and Val had long since headed out for the night when Megan and Ty sprang into pranking action. “They always left their polo wraps hanging in the aisle from one of those four-prong swivel hooks,” Megan describes with devilish delight. Those polo wraps provided her with an idea that begged to be brought to life.
So Megan and Ty created a web of polo wraps. “We took every single one of those wraps and created a knotted web,” Megan laughs. They worked together to entangle the entire lounge area and tack room. “We even made a canopy of wraps,” she explains. Once they got started, they left no polo wrap untied.
When Megan and Ty left for the night, they were very proud of their efforts. The next morning, Colton and Val walked into the barn to a big surprise. A mysterious ‘polo wrapping spider’ had created a web. “They have yet to exact their revenge,” Megan shares.
