The International Defies Bad Weather to Rack Up 5,700+ Entries
14-18 High Point Champion- Mackenzie Boone and A Hotrod Sensation
By: Brittany Bevis
Despite the tumultuous weather that Mother Nature sent Indiana’s way, (including tornados, downed trees, closed roads, power outages, and 6+ inches of rain) The International persevered, racking up 5,700+ entries over the weekend. According to Mark Harrell Horse Shows, the 2016 event totaled 2,900 AQHA entries. This year, AQHA entries were up to 4,500!
One reason for the substantial hike may have been the new location for this year’s event in Cloverdale, as well as the addition of Rookie classes to the show schedule. No matter the reason for the increase in attendance, judges Mark Russell, Dean Bogart, Shawn Hays, Gayle Lampinen, Amy Watkins, and Tyler Crouse had a tough time determining the winners among many the top horse and rider teams in attendance.
