A lot has changed from the drab fabric drapes that once hung around exhibitor’s tack stalls at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in the show’s earlier years. It’s common now to walk the aisles of the Gilligan Barn and see stunningly simple to ornate stall fronts that look like houses, cabins, saloons, storefronts, stadiums and even mini-replicas of the trainers’ and breeders’ real barns.
Some even bring the outdoors inside by arranging flowers, potted plants and trees, mulch, landscaping stones and bricks at the entrances of their stalls. It’s what lies behind the fronts that is most impressive for Congress-goers as many of them hold fully functioning kitchens, bars and living rooms that have all the luxuries of a home away from home.
Take a look inside the builds that make Congress livable with one-of-a-kind designs in the stabling areas of the biggest Quarter Horse show in the world.
