Many of our readers will remember the most adorable “horsey-themed” baby gender reveal video that went viral on Facebook about this time last year.

The video was the brainchild of Morgan and Friday Wright, who were due to have their first child in December of 2015. After finding out they were expecting, they immediately began planning an elaborate gender reveal party in order to celebrate with family and friends.
“My husband and I grew up in the rodeo industry and still compete professionally today,” Morgan says. “We searched the Internet for ideas that would fit our lifestyle and couldn’t find the perfect solution. We came up with the idea of ‘Bull or Pony.’ We thought this was fitting because my husband is a professional Bull Rider. He qualified for the ERA World Finals, PRCA Southeastern Circuit, Dodge National Circuit Finals, and the CBR World Finals, multiple times. I have been a professional Barrel Racer for 12 years. I have competed at every major rodeo in the United States and Canada, including winning Sisters Oregon, being a top ten finisher at Calgary, and round winner at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.”
After they had concocted a brilliant idea to honor both Mom and Dad’s passions, the Wright family now needed a few friends to help put their plan into motion. “After we visited the doctor to find out the gender of our baby, without looking, we immediately gave the gender envelope to our good friends, Cory and Hailey Burns, so they could prepare the bull or pony for the reveal party!”
“We invited family and close friends to the house on the evening of September 5th 2015 to find out the gender of our baby with us. When everyone arrived at the party, they picked either Team Bull or Team Pony and were given stickers to represent their team.”
After both of the teams had assembled in the arena, the bucking chute was opened and out came “Chino” the pony, which meant that a baby girl was on the way! “We had names picked out for both genders and were not going to reveal them until the gender was revealed. As soon as Chino came out, we announced that our little girl would be named Rylee Faith Wright!”
“A little back story on Chino: as soon as we found out we were expecting, we decided to get a pony for our new bundle of joy! We searched the Internet, and I came across some ponies that had been saved from a kill pen. My husband fell in love with Chino, but he was a stud pony at the time. We bought him, got him gelded, and sent him to Luke McDuffie to be trained.”
Rylee Faith Wright was born on December 31st, 2015 and is now approaching her first birthday. True to her roots, Rylee is a thoroughly horse-obsessed little girl who loves riding.
“We’re so blessed to be Rylee’s parents and love every moment of it! Rylee is a very active little girl. She loves being outside and spending time with her horses and dogs. She rides at least one horse with me every day and loves to be led around on her horse. She’s not happy when it’s time to get off and will stay on as long as we will let her. She also loves sitting on her saddle when watching her educational baby TV. Rylee brought a whole new meaning to our lives, and we’re so excited about the adventures ahead.”
