The American Quarter Horse Association is an organization that works for its members and holds an annual convention each spring. The 2021 AQHA Convention was hosted in an in-person business format to allow attendees to focus on business initiatives, including committee and council meetings; reviewing member-submitted rule-change proposals; interviewing, nominating and electing new AQHA directors; and electing the AQHA Executive Committee. The 2021 AQHA Convention was March 18-22 at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort in San Antonio.

AQHA Executive Committee

The new AQHA Executive Committee was elected Monday, March 22. This five-person committee is responsible for implementing important decisions made by AQHA members through the board of directors.

The 2021-22 AQHA Executive Committee is President Norman K. Luba of Louisville, Kentucky; First Vice President Dr. Scott Myers of Sharon Center, Ohio; Second Vice President Kenneth Banks of Schulenburg, Texas; member James “Jim” Hunt of Faith, South Dakota; and member Jeff Tebow of Piedmont, Oklahoma.

AQHA Bylaw and Registration Changes

Modifications to AQHA Bylaws, as well as registration-related items, were reviewed by AQHA members and the AQHA Board of Directors at convention. Per the Association’s bylaws, the board of directors has the final authority when it comes to changes or additions to AQHA’s bylaws and rules of registration. The Association will publish more information at a later date regarding the rule changes recommended by these two committees and approved by the board of directors.

The additional 11 standing committee reports will be reviewed by the AQHA Executive Committee for final approval before rule changes are implemented.
