Day 1-
So far it’s been a great first day here at the Arizona Sun Circuit! We started off with Open and Amateur Halter classes in the SmartPak arena, and there were Cutting and Roping Classes all day in the Equidome, followed by Ranch Horse classes. The office and warm-up arenas were packed with exhibitors; it’s going to be a huge show this year!
Although there were plenty of people out riding, there was easily enough space for everyone to get the practice in that they needed in the many open areas.
The weather, so far, has been perfect! (77 degrees and sunny), which is a refreshing change from year’s past. I’d definitely prefer breaking a bit of sweat in the sun as opposed to dealing with the cold rainy days we have in January. There are a few new policies in place for the show this year, the most important of which is that free exhibitor parking passes are required, so don’t forget to pick up yours at the office and display it on your dashboard.
Good luck to all exhibitors this week!
Day 2- Day 2 of the Sun Circuit is in the books! It was a busy day with many different arenas working at the same time. The Green, Junior, and Novice Amateur Trail showed all day, and from the few goes I watched, there were some really talented, young horses. There were also Reining, Ranch Riding, Versatility, Roping, and Working Cow Horse events going on throughout the day.
In the Equine Chronicle Arena, the day started with Showmanship and moved to the Western Pleasure classes. After the completion of the L2 Senior Western Pleasure, there was a fun wine race that I was disappointed I didn’t get to compete in! Exhibitors were given a glass of wine and had to ride around the arena, the objective being to be the one with the most wine in their glass by the end of the race. Slow and steady definitely seemed to be the winning strategy, but a few competitors decided to gallop around the cones to keep things exciting. Mark Jensen won the race, along with a 50″ TV! Fun events such as these are part of the reason why the Arizona Sun Circuit will always be one of the most fun shows of the year.
The day finished up with Horsemanship classes, where I competed in the last class of the day, the Level 3 Amateur Horsemanship. It was a fun and competitive class, and I can’t wait for the English, Western Riding, and Trail!

Day 1– It’s a beautiful day here at Sun Circuit and the show kicked off with Halter classes. It’s Natasha Blanchard, and I’m super excited to be coming to you from AZ Sun Circuit. I will be showing Made In The Shade, aka “Mikey,” in Amateur Western Pleasure and 3-year-old non pro classes. It’s my first year competing as an amateur! Also, my trainer, Katie Green, will be showing him in Junior Western Pleasure.
Day 2- What another sunny day at Sun Circuit. The show started off with huge Showmanship classes. In the other pen was Trail with huge classes in both Trail and Western Pleasure.
