For those die-hard Super Bowl fans who prefer to watch the Super Bowl commercials during the actual Super Bowl, you should probably stop reading right now. However, for those of you desperate for a sneak peek of Budweiser’s 2016 Super Bowl ad featuring the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales, you’re in luck.
Budweiser’s 60-second spot “Not Backing Down” was just released in full-length on YouTube this morning. According to Budweiser, the spot was created with the theme of “unapologetically celebrating all things that make Budweiser America’s number one full-flavored lager.”
This is the 27th Super Bowl commercial to feature the majestic Budweiser Clydesdales. One fan favorite in the past was the heartwarming “Brotherhood” (2013), where a horse trainer raises a Clydesdale foal from birth and then reunites with the horse three years later at a parade, in a touching embrace. Other popular spots include the Puppy Love ads. Best Buds (2014) tells the story of a persistent Labrador puppy who refuses to be separated from his equine best friend. Last year’s Lost Dog (2015) spot shows the same puppy as he is separated from his Clydesdale friends and embarks on a treacherous journey to get back home.
Just as a fair warning, this year’s ad probably won’t leave you in tears or with those warm-fuzzy feelings conjured by the powerful combination of adorable puppies, beautiful horses, and a handsome ranch hand. It definitely has a more urban feel, and the horses aren’t featured so much as just included. According to Budweiser, the spot shows the Clydesdales in a new light, “highlighting their strength, power and size as symbols of the hard work and care that goes into brewing Budweiser.”
