Special Olympics Florida will be the host for a very special equine competition this weekend in Weirsdale, Florida. 160 Special Olympics Florida athletes, in addition to more than 200 coaches, volunteers, and fans, will gather at the Grand Oaks Resort and Museum for the State Equestrian Championship.
The event will take place March 24-25 and will include Dressage, English Equitation, Stock Seat Equitation, Working Trails, Pole Bending, Barrel Racing, Showmanship at Halter or Bridle, Unified Sports Drill Team of 2, 4, and 6, and a Cart Driving Demo.
The event kicks off on Friday at 8:00 am with delegation registration, Trails course walk-through, group meetings, competition, dinner, and opening ceremony. Competition continues Saturday.
