SOQHA MADNESS Concludes With Whopping +12,600 Entries, View Complete Results

The Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association wrapped up a record-setting AQHA horse show over the weekend in Wilmington, Ohio. Mark Harrell Horse Show Management recorded more than 12,600 total entries during April 6-10. In comparison, the AQHA entries recorded this year (9,200+) topped last year’s TOTAL entries for the entire show. With competitors flocking to Ohio from coast to coast and even overseas, the 2016 SOQHA Madness was one for the record books.

Several special futurity events were held at the show that awarded thousands in added money. First, on Friday, The Equine Chronicle Novice Horse 3 and Over Western Pleasure class saw 13 horse and rider pairs compete. The Champion was Casey Willis aboard KM Weknowsheshot for owners Masterson Farms, LLC. The team received a $15,000 paycheck. The Reserve Champion and recipient of a $6,250 check was Cody Parrish with For Your Eyez Only for owners Brent and Kate Bamford. Parrish was also the Limited Champion and Intermediate Champion. Third place was Cleve Wells with Colman for owner Gerald Kimmel.

Then, on Saturday, Bret Parrish rode This Girlz On Fire to win the Coughlin Maiden Western Pleasure class and a $15,000 check for owners K&L Quarter Horses/Bamford B. The Reserve Champion was Gil Galyean with To Cool To Be Hot for Starland Ranch LLC. The pair received $7,500. Third place was Casey Willis with KM Bringinsheikyback, winning $5,000.

Also during the show, more than $20,000 was raised during a live and silent auction to benefit Miss Allie Paul, Show Manager Judd Paul’s daughter, who continues to battle with health issues. She was recently released from the hospital just prior to the show, and we are so glad to hear that she’s feeling better!
