Pro Management Inc. press release
On Thursday, October 3rd, the first day of competition at the Heritage Futurity Show, the action was taking place in both the Coliseum and the Tellepsen Arena at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center. The first days championships went to an exemplary group of competitors!
GREEN RIDER 1 & 2
There’s nothing like starting a show with a bang – and that’s what Kathy Buckner did at the Heritage Futurity when she won both the Green Rider Level 1 and Level 2 divisions on Spooky Boomer. Kathy, a full-time mom, has had her 9-year-old gelding for about a year and has been working to get with him with the assistance of her trainer. Claudivan Ribeiro. It all came together in the very first class of the Heritage Futurity show when she scored 70 to win!.
“I have to thank my husband James Buckner for supporting me with all my endeavors,” she noted, then added, “I also thank Claudivan and my super supportive barn friends.”
Finishing in the Level 1 reserve spot was Mindy Gray on Shesa Princess Chic, with a score of 68.5. Shari Griswold took the Level 2 reserve Honors on Sailin With Chics.
NOVICE HORSE OPEN LEVEL 1 AND 2
There were 73 horses in the draw for the Novice Horse Open Level 1 and 2 class. And the guy with the biggest smile had to be Jerry Kimmel, from Granbury, Texas. Tim McQuay rode My Daddy Is Dually and Trey Poole rode Gun Gotta Star to identical 72.5 scores to tie for the win of both divisions.
It was a sweet victory for Kimmel, not only because both horses were sired by his stallions – My Daddy Is Dually is by Mister Nicadual and Gun Gotta Star is by Dun Gotta Gun – but also because he has such a high regard for both riders.
He explains, “What can you say about Tim McQuay? Everyone reconizes his skill and achievements. Beyond that, I think Tim McQuay is top-notch not only as my trainer but through over fifteen years of his training my horses, I’ve come to think of him and his entire family as my friends.”
Jerry was just as quick to praise Trey Pool, who trains his horses at the Kimmel Ranch in Granbury. “Trey is so hard-working and honest – and a real up-and-comer in the reining industry. He and his wife, Luci, and little Lainy are one of the nicest young families I’ve ever met.”
NON PRO, INTERMEDIATE NON PRO, LIMITED NON PRO, PRIME TIME NON PRO
It was a great day for another McQuay client when Lyle Lovett and SNS Uvalde King (by his stallion Smart And Shiney). He scored 72 to win the Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, Limited Non Pro and Prime Time Non Pro!
Finishing second in the Non Pro were a bunch of folks – all scoring 71.5! Ron Thompson on Little Catsetp, Ron Thompson on Okie Walla Whiz and Michael Bulliard on My Royalty Chex made up the quartet of ties.
The Reserve title in the Intermediate Non Pro and Limited Non Pro went to Kaylan Marks on Tagged My Chic, for another score of 71.5. In the Prime Time Non Pro, the Reserve winner was Michael Bulliard and My Royalty Chex.
TRHA/STRHA
Allen Stillwell topped the Texas Reining Horse Association/South Texas Reining Horse Association class today, with a score of 70.5 on Memorable Moments. He bought the mare from Carl Lambert about a year and a half ago. “It’s taken me a while to figure out how to show her correctly. Today, I had mindset just to go in and treat it like a paid warm-up and see if I could do everything correctly and not hurry. I was not as nervous with that mindset and it worked.”
Stillwell is a retired general contractor who now enjoys golf as well as riding. He and his wife Nancy both ride with Casey Deary for a very good reason – their daughter, Nicole, is married to him.
The Reserve win went to Eileen Depew on That’s Great Dunit with a score just a tenth behind Stillwell.
