2017 ArQHA Board of Directors and Officers
The 2017 ArQHA Board of Directors and Officers were elected for the new year at the banquet. Officers include: Jerry Fuller, president; David Jones, first vice president; Debbie Arnold, second vice president; and Jerry Beaty, Secretary. Other board members include: Melanie Cornelius (Youth Director), Julie Crossland, Lynn Cornelius, Brian Brady, Mark Dunham, Travis Dobbs, DeLaina Harris, Jerry Matthews, Larry Martin, Terry Parker, Andi Ridgway, Doug Smith, Janice Thessing, and Rhonda Williams.
ArQHA’s 2017 season kicked off with the Go South for the Winner circuit held at the Four States Fairgrounds in Texarkana, Arkansas on December 2-4. The show had 6 judges and featured a $1,500 Added Money 4D Purina Classic Barrel Race on Saturday afternoon. The jackpot had 44 entries and paid back nearly $4,000.
The weekend’s AQHA events boasted good numbers even with the rain and cold weather. The largest events from the weekend were Open Ranch Riding with 22 entries, Open and Amateur Ranch Sorting with 20 teams each, and Green/Level 1 Trail, Open Trail, and Open Barrels with 17 entries each. There were a total of 503 entries in the first circuit and 424 in the second circuit.

This show ends the ArQHA 2017 point year.
ArQHA will only have 3 shows this year for Youth World qualifying and year end points.

The 2017 season will continue with the Circle G Classic on March 31 – April 2 with 6 judges in Tunica, Mississippi. The judges are: Mike Hoeppner, Richard Spinks, Judd Paul, Curtis Reynolds, Steve Heckaman, and Chris Jones. The schedule for Circle G had been modified to promote a better utilization of time. The show will kick off on Friday afternoon at 2 pm with Trail followed by Western Riding, Ranch Riding and Reining. Halter and showmanship will show to all 6 judges on Saturday morning beginning at 8 am. Speed events will go Saturday afternoon at 5 pm in the back arena and again at 8 am on Sunday morning. The Memorial Day Circuit will once again feature the 15th annual Stanford Happening. Look for details on special events and the show schedule coming soon.
