AQHA Publicity

If you’re nominating your halter horse to the amateur or open divisions at the 2019 Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show, your second nomination payment is due July 31, 2019. The nomination program is a pilot program for the 2019 AQHA world championship shows*.

Amateur and open exhibitors planning to show their halter horses at the 2019 Lucas Oil World, still have three ways to qualify their halter horses:

  • Qualify by earning the required number of points. Qualifying period ends July 31
  • Compete at a designated number of shows during the respective qualifying period (10 for amateur or 20 for open).
  • Participate in the nomination pilot program for halter horses.

The first nomination payment ($1,000 for amateur; $2,500 for open) was due December 31, 2018, and the deadline for the second nomination payment ($2,000 for amateur; $2,500 for open) is July 31, 2019. Payment 3 for the 2019 Lucas Oil World Show ($2,000 for amateur; $2,500 for open) is due September 15, 2019.

If the first nomination payment was not received by December 31, 2018, then the amount due for Payment 2 is Payment 1, plus a late fee ($1,500 for amateur; $3,500 for open), in addition to the second nomination payment. If the first two nomination payments are not received by July 31, 2019, then both are due along with a $2,000 late fee and the third nomination payment ($2,000 for amateur; $2,500 for open) by September 15, 2019.

The nomination payments will be added to a horse’s respective class purse, and all entries in that class at the 2019 Lucas Oil World will be eligible to receive the full purse, regardless of the qualifying method.

Nomination forms and payments can be made through email or by mail; both forms can be found under Register at www.aqha.com/worldshow. Nominations can be sent to Lacy Stahl at lstahl@aqha.org.

Halter Bonanza

In addition to having a third option for exhibitors to qualify their horses, the Association is excited to continue the Halter Bonanza at the Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show, thanks to the generosity of some very special sponsors.

“Our sponsors decided to continue their support and donate to the amateur and open halter classes at the Lucas Oil World,” said Pete Kyle, AQHA chief show officer. “Steve and Kathy Headley are donating $150,000 and Linda Gordon is also donating $150,000, while Terry and Tammy Bradshaw are donating $153,000, totaling $453,000 in halter support through 2020!”

At the 2018 Lucas Oil World, $151,000 in additional prize money was added to the halter class purses. A total of $76,000 was paid to the amateur halter division and $75,000 to the open division, thanks to 10-year cumulative breeders Steve and Kathy Headley of Bloomington, Indiana; 30-year cumulative breeder Linda Gordon of Fossil Gate Farms, Argyle, Texas; and 30-year cumulative breeders Terry and Tammy Bradshaw of Thackerville, Oklahoma.

As part of the 2018 Halter Bonanza, $5,000 was awarded to the high-point Adequan® Level 2 open halter exhibitor, as well as the high-point halter amateur from the AQHA Level 2 Championships, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan).

Halter Nomination Program

The program is patterned off of a futurity payment structure, and the cost of the nominations is dependent upon division. The total amateur payment is $5,000, if all payments are made on time. The total open division payment is $7,500 for horses nominated, if all payments are made on time.

Please contact Lacy Stahl at 806-378-4344 if you have questions or would like to nominate your halter horse over the phone.

*The Halter Nomination Pilot Program allows owners to nominate a horse to a specific AQHA world show, but does not include performance halter classes. This program is not available for halter classes at the Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show.
