Ruling Announced in “Vicious Horse” Case, More Questions Than Answers

According to a piece from the Connecticut Law Tribune, a lawsuit stemming from 2006, where a child was bitten in the face by a horse, will continue to the Superior Court after the Connecticut Supreme Court upheld a ruling describing horses as belonging to “a species naturally inclined to do mischief or be vicious.”

The lengthy and complicated Summary of Opinion states that “the majority did not rule that horses have dangerous propensities or are naturally inclined to cause injuries.” However, the determination of whether or not a particular animal is dangerous or inclined to cause injury must be made on a case-by-case basis in Superior Court.
