It’s an all-American love story, but it’s not the kind that makes you swoon. This story is about a family that makes an impact on American industry. The Royal Wire Equine story is not only about a love for products made in the USA, but also a love of horses, family, friends, and the desire to make the lives of those around them better.
FACES BEHIND THE NAME
The Royal Wire family, based near Cleveland, Ohio, has been living and breathing horses for over 40 years. Chances are you’ve rubbed shoulders with Paige Merrill and her family while at the All American Quarter Horse Congress each fall. It’s certainly a family affair. Royal Wire ads in The Equine Chronicle feature Paige, her husband, Tom, and their kids, Cole and Morgan, which officially make Royal Wire a fourth-generation company.
2018 marks Royal Wire’s 65th year in business. This company was started by William J. Peshina, Paige’s grandfather, and then grown by Paige’s dad, William F. Peshina. “My brother, husband, and sister-in-law are also involved in running the company and overseeing day-to-day operations,” explains Paige, who says that she’s always been involved with the family business. “I guess you can say it’s in my blood!”
The company didn’t originally focus on the horse industry. “Through hard work, tenacity, and a little luck, my dad discovered a need in the filter bag cage industry,” Paige says. “A filter bag cage is an air pollution control device for heavy industry, like power plants and asphalt factories. Our Royal Wire slogan is, ‘We Clean the Air You Breathe.’”
How Royal Wire became a household name for horse owners is another story.
