Last summer, the American Quarter Horse Association asked members to participate in an online AQHA membership survey. AQHA worked with Decision Analyst of Arlington, Texas, to conduct the survey and compile the results.
“We have started to use the data that was collected to better understand how to serve our members and to learn more about them so we can continue to attract advertisers and sponsors,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Craig Huffhines. “We greatly appreciate all the members who participated in this survey.”
The survey, which was offered to all AQHA members in the United States, covered member involvement with horses, member services offered by AQHA, purchasing habits and brand preferences. The survey also collected important demographic data. More than 5,580 AQHA members took the survey. On average it took each AQHA member 53 minutes to complete. AQHA appreciates the nearly 5,000 hours that members dedicated to the survey.
The survey found that 75 percent of members are female and 49 percent of members are age 56 and older. The survey also revealed that the majority of AQHA members own five horses or fewer and have been riding for more than 20 years. The majority of members ride for recreation and fun.
