The Washington State Quarter Horse Association held their annual Northwest Emerald Show, Sept. 8-11 in Monroe, WA. One of the highlighted events was the Northwest Emerald Masters Futurity with $14,000 in prize money. $8,000 came from entries; there was $3,500 in added money sponsored by Dave Girling in memory of Corrina Girling; and $2,500 was added to the limited rider portion sponsored by Continental Dirt.
In conjunction, AQHA stallion Machine Made sponsored the Masters Wine & Cheese Party. There were two Machine Made offspring in the Masters Futurity, one of which was the Open Champion. Also, a 3-year-old Machine Made offspring won the 3-Year-Old Open and 3-Year-Old Non Pro Western Pleasure.
Other fun social events included a Welcome Party on Wednesday that was sponsored by Three Ring Farm and the Washington State Quarter Horse Youth Association held a Baked Potato Feed on Friday.
Show management noticed an increase in Rookie Amateur entries and accepted Canadian entries were accepted, at par, which made for a very affordable option for those competitors.
