Reminders For AQHA World Show

Filed under: Club & Show News,Club and Show News |

AQHA Publicity

The 2020 Farnam AQHA World Championship Show; AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan); Adequan® Level 2 Championships; Nutrena Level 1 Championships; and AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge Finals are almost here! Competitors are gearing up to be part of history November 2-21 at the OKC Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. We’re certain there are a lot of items on your to-do list to get ready for the show of the year.

Please make note of the following helpful reminders:

  • The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected the show and its structure in a variety of ways. Before heading to the OKC Fairgrounds, be sure you check out the Farnam AQHA World Health Protocols to ensure you are up to date on local, state and federal mandates in addition to AQHA and OKC Fairgrounds policies. In accordance with the current Oklahoma City Mask Ordinance, face coverings are required indoors when not astride or at halter. This is to protect the health and safety of all exhibitors, attendees, staff and show personnel. Not only will this assist with protecting your health, but it will also protect upcoming equine events. Health protocols are subject to change.
  • All exhibitors and attendees are required to complete the COVID-19 Health Acknowledgement & Liability Waiver and return it to the Show Office. Exhibitors and attendees will receive a wristband, once a completed waiver is submitted, that must be worn at all times. Exhibitors will need to bring the signed waiver with them to the Show Office in order to pick up their entry packet and back number. AQHA will also provide one complimentary face covering per exhibitor packet. Additional masks are available for purchase while supplies last.
  • Subscribe to the texting service for important show updates, including COVID-19 information. To enroll, text AQHA to 806-576-0913.
  • Register to receive access to the digital version of the official Farnam AQHA World Show Program. Exhibitors can complete this form to get the free digital program.
  • Complete your official AQHA World Show bio form to share your AQHA story and more information on you and your American Quarter Horse’s journey to compete at this year’s show.
  • Review the qualifier’s handbook, where you’ll find answers to many show-specific questions.
  • Please check the tentative schedule for changes and estimated times; refresh your browser for the latest version. Entries are up, which means modifications were necessary to balance the shows days. Two specific classes were adjusted to prevent excessively long days; Nutrena Level 1 Select horsemanship and Adequan® Level 2 amateur western pleasure.
  • Entry proofing lists and patterns are posted at www.aqha.com/worldshow within the Resources section. Stall charts and working orders will also be posted within Resources in the coming days. With the improvement of new technology, working orders for Level 3 and Adequan® Level 2 concurrent classes will now have a randomized draw throughout the class. Since this is new for 2020, exhibitors with separate riders in both Level 3 and Adequan® Level 2 will have the opportunity to swap their draw orders between riders after reviewing the published working orders for those Level 3 and Adequan® Level 2 concurrent classes. This would allow a Level 3 rider to show first, as has been the case in years past. Exhibitors must notify the Show Office if they would like to swap their draw orders by 5 p.m. the night before the class. Changes will not be made after this time.
  • AQHA Professional Horsemen from around the country are teaming up to provide free Ride the Pattern clinics, presented by Nutrena. View the Nutrena Ride the Pattern schedule and submit your questions for the clinicians.
  • Follow live scoring and more with the new Horse Show Tracker. Visit www.horseshowtracker.com and bookmark the updated Tracker to your home screen.
  • Move-in begins at 8 a.m., Saturday, October 31. View a map of the facility. Enter Gate 5 onto Gordon Cooper Blvd. off May Avenue and proceed to the inspection station to present your horses’ health certificates. This health paperwork must be current within 30 days and a negative Coggins (EIA lab test) must be current within 12 months. The inspection station is open 24 hours and there is a staging area east of the inspection station for trailers to line up in order of arrival.
  • Start unloading. Beginning on Saturday, October 31, you’ll have one hour to park and move in on Barn Row and the east side of the Super Barn. Empty trailers can be parked in the large lot north of Barn 5.
  • Stalls are preassigned per the stall request submitted at the time of entry and will be available soon on the World Show Resource page. If you haven’t preordered shavings yet, call the OKC Fairgrounds directly at 405-948-6786.
  • Thank you to those who have generously freed up extra stalls to help house the influx of American Quarter Horses the Association is planning to welcome to Oklahoma City over the next few weeks. AQHA is bringing in extra temporary stalling to accommodate the overwhelming response to this year’s show. To that end, we are still in need of additional stalls to house the number of participants who would like to take part in this history-making event. If you are able to free up any more stalls, such as tack, grooming, feed or otherwise, please indicate so on this form. AQHA staff will contact you promptly to gather more details and initiate a refund, so the extra stalls can be utilized by another person.
  • More than 300 RV spaces will be available on a first come-first served basis in the South RV Park. The 29 spots in the North RV Park have been reserved and limited quantities are available for reservation in the new West RV Park. Those can be booked directly by emailing jcartee@aqha.org.
  • Pick up your back number and entry packet from the Show Office. Please be prepared with a copy of your horses’ registration certificates and completed COVID-19 Health Acknowledgement & Liability Waiver. The Show Office opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1. Starting Monday, November 2, the show office opens daily, one hour before the start of the show.
  • New this year, AQHA is providing a complimentary contestant jacket for each horse entered in the show. Sizing information was submitted with your entry information. A limited supply of jackets will be available for pick up in the Show Office. All others will be shipped after the show.

Additional space for exercising horses has been added to accommodate the change.
  • Be sure to complete the 2021 Farnam AQHA World Championship Show Judges Nomination Form during your downtime at the show.
  • Exhibitors will receive a free digital video file of their performance, courtesy of AQHA and official show videographer Equine Promotion. Equine Promotion will automatically email exhibitors a link to their run so they can download and share it on social media. This is free; no signup is necessary. There are also a variety of video options for purchase, too. Visit the Equine Promotion booth next to Shane Rux Photography to update your email address or to purchase additional footage.
  • Don’t forget to check your tires before you head out! BFGoodrich supports youth programs every time you buy a set of BFGoodrich tires by giving $100 back to AQHYA. Learn more.
