Are you a young horseman or -woman with a passion for training and showing young horses? Are you raising a yearling or 2-year-old futurity horse project of your own and doing the work yourself?

Get the recognition you deserve for your hard work by participating in APHA’s Youth Futurity Project, and shine on the big stage of the 2023 APHA World Championship Show in these special classes, taking place June 24-27 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Details

  • Open to all breeds, with special prizes for Paint Horses (Regular Registry or Solid Paint-Bred)
  • Exhibitor must be a current AjPHA member
  • Only the Youth exhibitor may train the horse after April 15 of the current show year, through the last APHA Youth Futurity Project class. Verbal guidance is encouraged, but the Youth themselves must do all of the actual training on the horse.
  • 2 divisions:
    • Youth Yearling Futurity Project: in-hand trail, longe line, showmanship, logbook & interview
    • Youth 2-Year-Old Futurity Project: walk-trot trail, walk-trot rail, walk-trot pattern, logbook & interview
  • Open to pleasure-, hunter- or ranch-type projects
  • Emphasis will be on training and horsemanship over movement
  • Logbook & Interview are required for all participants; any or all of the performance classes may be entered.
  • Only one Youth Futurity Project per division (maximum of one yearling and one 2-year-old per exhibitor)

Pre-enter by May 15 for the best rates; entries accepted until 5 p.m. the day before classes take place.
