Fresh from winning a World Champion buckle, a sorrel gelding of average height, perhaps 15.2 or 15.3 hands, with a blaze and white socks, emerged from the John Justin arena with a blue and red WC ribbon around his neck.
Ridden by Raegen Strange, Zip My Impulse had just won his second World Championship, this time in Novice Youth Hunter Under Saddle 13 & Under at this year’s APHA World Championship Show. Though he stood along the wall among many tall HUS horses before his final placing, Raegen says this is a class “Mickey” loves.
“He has so much fun doing it. He has a huge stride,” Raegen, who is under the guidance of Alex Sifuentez, explains. When asked if this class is a strong suit for them, Raegen says she likes to think so. “We also placed 6th at the AQHA L1 East Show. Today he was so good – he was right there, and he listened to me and it was so exciting!”
Even more special is the fact that her Grandma bred and raised Zip My Impulse, and Raegen’s mom was the first one to ever show him, and Raegen has taken over the reins just in the last year or two.
Update – Raegen and Mickey also earned a Reserve title in Youth Hunter Under Saddle 13 & Under in their next class!
