AQHA competitors at the Indy Circuit and IQHA State Show will have the opportunity to take over the racetrack for “A Night at the Races!” The Indy Circuit (June 4-7) and IQHA State Show (June 9-12) will bring a total of eight complete shows to Newcastle, Indiana as well as a fun special event that blends the horse show world with harness racing.
On Tuesday, June 7th, everyone is invited to a night of fun at the Hoosier Park. This event is suitable for all ages and will provide family-friendly entertainment. There will also be a few special extras for the adults, namely a cash bar and $20 vouchers for betting gifted to every person 18 and over, provided by the racetrack! Everyone will be able to enjoy free appetizers and snacks. Tables may be reserved for those wanting a full meal.
During the Indy Circuit show on Saturday and Sunday, 13 lucky individuals will be selected to ride in the starting gate truck on race day. Each person will be able to bring one friend to participate as well. There will be two people in the truck per race for a total of 13 races on Tuesday evening.
Also, a small group of people will be selected to go on a behind the scenes tour of the Hoosier Park barn. Finally, and perhaps the most exciting, three people will be selected to participate in a match race in a cart! Rumor has it Mark Harrell may participate as a celebrity harness driver…
Also, the harness drivers will be at the horse show on Monday to participate in a special walk-trot class. Arrangements are underway for a shuttle to go to and from the racetrack.
