Kraig Shoemaker says, “Our horses are always sound, healthy and broke at the pace the horse can handle.” There are no smoke and mirrors with Blake Britton’s program. “He breaks out the colts with the understanding of what the horse can handle, both mentally and physically, and so they will have a long show career being healthy and happy!”
The Shoemakers are breeders and have always dreamed of having a ‘homegrown’ horse of their own do well at the Congress.
Kraig and his wife’s goal was to make the finals of the Novice Amateur at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. In 2017 at the Congress, with the help, support, and training from Blake Britton, they achieved their goals. “Our homegrown gelding (Just Me and BattMan) made the finals of the Coughlin 2 Year Old Class and finished in the Top 15, and my wife made the finals of the Novice Amateur and was also in the Top 15!”
“We got a buckle with a ‘homegrown’ colt that was started properly with Blake Britton,” Kraig said. The Shoemakers have had some of their two-year-olds at the Congress since their big wins, but they had sold before they got to show them. “All because of the Blake Britton program.”
