Maeve McLoughlin has worked with trainer, Allison Applegett, for the past five years, through IHSA and at the Congress. “I cannot even put into words how much Allison has taught me during the years I have been with her. I joined the hunt seat team at OSU, and Allison helped me all along those years in college, whether it was in the ring or just general life advice.”
Maeve says, “I have been around horses all my life, and I have not met a more dedicated person to her job. Her work ethic and tenacity are incomparable to others.” Allison coaches IEA, IHSA has a 4H team and travels with a group of clients that show around the Midwest. During the Congress, Allison divides her time between coaching at the Congress and continuing lessons for her riders on the farm teams. Maeve explains, “Even with all the running back and forth from the farm to the Congress, Allison still made sure that every kid and horse was well-prepared to go into the show ring to win. She is there for your ups and your downs and makes sure to go over each round and see where you can improve and what you did well.”
Allison also helped Maeve achieve her goal of winning the Congress, and she did that not once, but twice in 2019. “After realizing that I just won my second class at the same Congress, the emotions that flooded through me at that moment I will never forget. I realized that I achieved the goals that I came into the Congress with and more. And I could not have done it without the help of Allison.”
