This month’s Wrangler Exhibitor of the Month is no other than Sandy Berenson of Broken Arrow, Okla.!
Sandy, like many of us, has been “horse crazy” since she was a young girl.
“My mother probably would have said I was foaled in 1943, rather than born,” she said. “Growing up in the middle of Memphis, horse ownership was not an option. The best I could do was to collect glass and plastic horses or pretend I was a horse.”
Years later, Sandy’s dream of owning a horse finally came true when her husband, Tom, surprised her with Scoots on their 20th anniversary. She soon started attending local shows but later retired Scoots and bought her current triple registered mount Royal Sueboy, or “Dude.”
“I was able to register Dude as a Pinto after he developed a number of white spots,” Sandy said. “Every year since becoming a member, I look forward to the Pinto World Championship and participating with the other Elite riders.”
The pair has been very successful over the years and have won a number of Championships and Reserve Championships.
“For me,” said Sandy, “Winning is second to the fun of riding and being with the people who love horses as much as I do. Twenty eight years of horse showing and I still get excited when I arrive at the show grounds, walk into the barn, and hear the sound of horses and horse show families, busy getting everything ready.”
