Paint Horses Score at Top of 2014 NRHA Heritage Futurity

Paint reining horses won several classes at the 2014 National Reining Horse Association Heritage Futurity, which took place October 2–5 in Katy, Texas.

In Novice Horse Open and Novice Horse Level 2, Tim McQuay and Blo Gun scored a 72.5 into win the classes and take home $573 in prize money. Blo Gun, a 2010 sorrel solid stallion by Colonels Smokingun and out of The Hot Jewel (QH), was bred by Karen Adler of Valley View, Texas, and is owned by McQuay Stables, Inc., of Tioga, Texas.

Michael Bulliard and and his bay overo mare, Colonels Gunsnroses, won the AQHA Amateur Select class with a score of 70. The 3-year-old mare is by Colonels Lone Gun and out of Colonels Rare Gem (QH). Bred by Linda Trainor of Willis, Texas, the mare is owned by Michael.

Andrea Stillo and Colonels Royal Solano, a 2009 sorrel overo gelding by Colonels Smokingun and out of Royal Soleno Chic (QH) who competed under the name White Noise, earned a co-championship in the Novice Horse Non-Pro Level 1 with a score of 71.5. They tied with Dun Alotta Chics (QH) and James Morgan for the win, and each took home $253 in cash. White Noise is owned by Andrea and Mirjam Stillo of Tiogoa, Texas. Mirjam also won the AQHA class with the gelding, and they were reserve in the Novice Horse Open.

Coming off of her team gold and individual bronze at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France, Mandy McCutcheon proved she could jump right back into another competitive arena with Colonels Smokingun son MJG Colonel Dry, a 2011 dun gelding out of MJG Hollywood Dry. They won the Level 4 Non-Pro Futurity to win $3,914. The gelding is owned by Tim and Colleen McQay of Tioga, Texas.
