Opportunity to Hold International Horsemanship Camps With AQHA

Each summer, the American Quarter Horse Association is proud to partner with some of the country’s best equine and agriculture universities to offer international horsemanship camps through one of AQHA’s international affiliates.
The deadline to submit grant applications for clinics conducted between June and September of 2015 is Friday, October 10, 2014.

International horsemanship camps were established to help foster an environment in which people around the world could learn more about the American Quarter Horse; increase their horsemanship skills; or improve their skills in various disciplines.
As part of this outreach program, AQHA also selects an international intern to help coordinate the clinics and serve as an ambassador for the Association and the breed. The intern spends the summer in Europe working with the selected universities for Europe, blogs about his or his experiences along the way, makes a presentation about AQHA at each of the camps and helps reinforce the position of the American Quarter Horse as the world’s most popular and versatile breed of horse.

The purposes and objectives of the international horsemanship camps are:
• To improve horsemanship skills in international countries through a series of interactive clinics
• To cultivate new members for both AQHA and the host affiliate
• To position the American Quarter Horse as the preferred breed for recreational riding, showing and racing
• To ensure the welfare of the American Quarter Horse is paramount to all other concerns
Interested colleges and universities may apply to conduct a series of camps in Europe, Central and South America or Oceania (Australia/New Zealand/Japan).
