In addition, Steve Heckaman posted this statement on his official Facebook page in response to inquiries about the nature of and reason for the complete dispersal.
“We have had many questions recently, as to the reason for holding a complete dispersal sale. For the past three decades, I have devoted my life’s work to training, breeding and promoting top show horses. Over the years, I have been blessed and fortunate to have been associated with some really good ones. After a lengthy evaluation, reflection and analyzation, a painstakingly hard decision was made to change some of the direction that we will be going in the horse industry now and in the future, as change in every facet of life is inevitable. It is up to us to resist or embrace it. As the breeding chapter of our business winds down, our intent is to remain active showing at some level and I plan to continue to try to contribute as a judge. We have an exceptional stallion prospect by A Good Machine out of a daughter of Potential Investment, that I would hope to still have a role in his future. It is no secret that I have had an interest in the Thoroughbred business for some time and we hope to actively pursue different aspects of that venture in the future. We have thoroughly enjoyed the many great people and relationships made in the horse industry and my family hopes to continue to maintain and enjoy those connections for many years to come.”- Steve Heckaman
