Dear Equestrian Community,
Excitement has been building for almost a decade at the prospect of a new equestrian facility in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and Denver City Council recently approved a measure that supports the impending progress. Delayed due to covid complications, the time has come to design and build the new Equestrian Center as part of the National Western Center development. The plot on the west side of the new campus will feature a state-of-the-art complex built solely for year-round equestrian use, a parking structure and a proposed hotel to accommodate visitors to the facility. It will sit adjacent to the north of the Colorado State University Spur campus Vida building which houses the Temple Grandin Equine Center for equine assisted activities and therapies, the Denver Dumb Friends League small animal hospital and an equine sports rehabilitation center.
The recent vote proves the revenue stream from city tax is back to a level ready to support the construction efforts. Design and procurement will begin the process followed by construction which should result in a grand opening of the new facility in 2027. Equine community leaders have provided valuable input into the design to ensure the building will focus on the comfort and health of our animals and provide a modern venue to showcase a variety of equestrian sports.
