Diamont’s Legacy, 13 year old Oldenburg stallion, owned by Derek Petersen, was named the 2021 Hunter Jumper Horse Of The Year. Derek bought ‘Frito’ as a six year old from his friend Marcus Winthal, and showed him for a few years before a short-term injury sidelined him. Derek’s daughter-in-law, Jordan Petersen, stepped into the irons and never looked back, becoming a formidable team. The duo showed at 15 weekends at the World Equestrian Center’s Winter, Summer and Fall series of shows in 2021, earning five championship titles at WEC-Ocala. With a sibling who is on the autism spectrum and also has a mild form of cerebral palsy, Ian understands that ‘differently-abled’ doesn’t mean ‘less-abled.’ Ian is passionate about recognizing and encouraging differently-abled peers and feels horses are one of the most valuable tools available to help all humans learn, grow and heal.

Many of NSBA’s policies and procedures that are used today were developed during Bill’s tenure as president, and he has continued his longtime involvement with the association, providing legal and procedural advice, serving as a member of the grievance and hearing process and the Judges Committee.
