NOQHA Spring Extravaganza Show Still On Schedule in Findlay This Weekend

29558_10151341990341071_1833666853_nPer the Northern Ohio Quarter Horse Association’s official Facebook page, the following announcement was made about the upcoming Spring Extravaganza Show scheduled for May 22-24 in Findlay, Ohio.

“As of today (May 16th) there are no reported cases of EHV-1 reported in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. There are no horse transportation restrictions through any of those states and Illinois. We have received confirmation directly from each state’s official veterinarian that there are no EHV-1 outbreaks or state ordered farm quarantines.”

“The University of Findlay did cancel their Appaloosa show for May 16th and 17th as a PRECAUTIONARY measure. The University of Findlay does not have any suspect or confirmed cases of EHV-1 on their premises nor has the University been informed of any potential or confirmed cases of EHV-1 in horses attending University of Findlay shows. Because of the potential for exposure, the University proactively cancelled a horse show scheduled for May 16th and 17th. All other shows at the University will be held as scheduled at this time.”

“The University is taking this proactive approach to protect horses that will be traveling to their facility for events as well as their own horse herd. As they do year round, they will continue to monitor horse temperatures daily, use stringent vaccination protocols, utilize isolation facilities as needed, and disinfect their facility appropriately. The University is committed to protecting the safety and health of all horses. Horse owners are encouraged to seek advice from their veterinarian on methods to prevent EHV-1 in their horses.”

“If anyone would like to cancel their stalls or camping we would be happy to refund your money as long as we are able to resell the stalls. We currently have a waiting list for stalls. Please contact Chris Darnell with any questions, concerns or cancellations.”
