From NSBA:

The 2025 March To Virginia AQHA and NSBA show ended Sunday, March 30, with Western Pleasure, Horsemanship and Ranch classes at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia. As part of the final day, the Non-Pro exhibitors closed out the NSBA futurity events.

Amy and Adam Take Three Year Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure

March To Virginia’s NSBA Three Year Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure featured a small but competitive class of three exhibitors. Amy Gumz piloted Ten Kinda Southern, known as Adam, to the win in the $1,000 added class, earning $531 for the win for Gumz Farms Quarter Horses LLC.
It marked the second win of the show for the chestnut stallion by Its A Southern Thing and out of KM Perfect Ten, who also won the Virginia Maiden Three Year Old and Over Maiden Western Pleasure with trainer Shannon Curl-Holbin on Saturday
.
“That was kind of fun!” Amy said of her go. “He was just so consistent.” “Adam is a really good fit for Amy,” added trainer Chris Hobin. “I think she and Shannon are going to have a lot of fun showing him this year.”

The team plans to show Adam at major futurities this year in everything from Limited Horse and Novice Horse Western Pleasure classes to Three Year Old Open and Non-Pro futurities.

Brenda And Bernice Win Maturity Non-Pro Western Pleasure

Brenda Looney showed The Machine Girl to win the NSBA Maturity Non-Pro Western Pleasure, earning $544 for the win in the $1,000 added class. The Looneys purchased the four year old Machine Made mare, whom they call Bernice, out of Certain Lee The Best (Certain Potential) as a late yearling.

“I showed her for the first time last year at the Congress, so this is just our second show together,” Brenda said. “She’s easy and she knows her job. Today, she stayed soft and stayed hooked up with me the whole ride. She was just really good.”

Kaitlyn and Kelby Hutchinson started Bernice and assist the Looneys with her show career. The show team will compete Maturity Open and Non-Pro Western Pleasure as well as the four year old classes at various events this year. “She only showed at the Premier, NSBA World Championship Show and the Quarter Horse Congress last year, so she got a later start, and this is really her first full year showing,” Brenda said. “We already have an embryo out of her bred to our stallion Cool Breeze, so we are excited to raise some babies as well.”
