THE RUNDOWN
FORT WORTH, Texas – In a tight matchup of two top ranked teams, the No. 1 Baylor equestrian team (11-0, 4-0) took down the No. 2 TCU Horned Frogs (5-2, 2-2), 11-9 Saturday at Turning Point Ranch in Springtown.
TCU finished up reining with a 4-1 advantage before Baylor countered with a 4-1 win in fences to tie the score at five apiece. The Bears took flat 3-2 to gain an 8-7 advantage. TCU knotted the scored a 9-9 in horsemanship before taking the last two points of the meet to remain undefeated on the season.
Baylor’s win on the road was the first for the Bears vs. a Big 12 opponent since BU beat Oklahoma State Oct. 15, 2011 in Stillwater, Okla.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Rachel Van Allen received Baylor’s only MOP honors for the day. Her score of 76 in flat beat Jayme Omand’s score of 58.
• Alicia Gasser contributed two points to Baylor’s score by winning her matchups in both flat and fences.
• Sam Schaefer also won two points with wins in both flat and fences.
