From NCHA:

FORT WORTH – The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) is ecstatic to announce the 2024 Rafter P Loper of the Year, Kendall Luengas. This is the second year Rafter P, the Official Builder of the NCHA, has awarded a Loper of the Year to recognize the hard-working men and women behind the show horses. Luengas currently works for Bryant Slaughter of Hempstead, Texas.

“I’m in shock right now,” said Luengas. “I have worked for Bryant Slaughter for the past three years and he is the best. I couldn’t imagine working for anyone else. I think it is outstanding that Rafter P is recognizing lopers like this.”

“Here at Rafter P, we are excited to recognize Kendall Luengas as the second annual Loper of the Year,” said Brad Pryor, Rafter P Founder and President. “I think it is extremely important to recognize the backbone of the cutting horse community and reward these lopers for all of the time and commitment they give to these trainers and horses. Without them, there would be no cutting horse community.”

“The NCHA proudly champions the cutting horse, highlighting the essential role of the loper through the esteemed Rafter P Loper of the Year award,” said Jay Winborn, Executive Director of the NCHA. “These remarkable individuals invest their time and passion to keep our horses healthy and ready for success. A heartfelt congratulations to Kendall Luengas for her incredible dedication and efforts—your hard work truly makes a difference in our community!”
