WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced its January Riders of the Month on Thursday, February 7.
January’s Equifit Equitation On the Flat Rider of the Month goes to Kenzie Mezrah of the UT Martin Skyhawks. The Tampa, FL native won her point against then No. 6 Georgia by a margin of 15 points. The sophomore earned an MOP honor in her first start for the Skyhawks.
Georgia Bulldog Hayley Mairano earned the January Equifit Equitation Over Fences award after an MOP performance on the road against UT Martin. Mairano, originally from Simsbury, Connecticut, received the high score of the event to lead the Fences squad to a 4-1 win.
This month’s Shorty’s Horsemanship Rider of the Month goes to Texas A&M rider Sarah Orsak. The senior from San Antonio, Texas tallied a 9.5-point victory, her highest margin of victory this season. Orsak helped the Aggies to a 4-1 victory in Horsemanship against South Dakota State.
Lisa Bricker, freshman Texas A&M Aggie, takes the Shorty’s Reining Rider of the Month award following an MOP performance in January. The Temecula, California native earned MOP honors in her first career ride and helped the Aggies to a 3-2 victory in the event.
