NCEA March Riders of the Month: Schaefer, Perry, Parr, and Dusha

WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association on Tuesday announced its March Riders of the Month, as determined by the NCEA selection committee and honoring standout performances from the past month of the collegiate equestrian season.

Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month: Sam Schaefer, Baylor

  • Posted a 4-0 record in Equitation Over Fences during the month of March.
  • Named the Big 12 Rider of the Year, named to the All-Big 12 Team and named Big 12 Conference Most Outstanding Performer in Equitation Over Fences.
  • Defeated USC’s Sydney Smith 87-82 and earned MOP, receiving the highest score of the day with a 87.
  • Defeated AU’s Megan Bifano 94-78 and earned MOP.
  • Defeated TCU’s Molly Peddicord 172-132.
  • Defeated KSU’s Taylor Schmidt  177-163.

Equitation On The Flat Rider of the Month: Kaitlin Perry, TCU

  • Posted a 4-0 record in Equitation On The Flat during the month of March.
  • Named Big 12 Conference Most Outstanding Performer in Equitation On The Flat.
  • Earned two MVP honors at the Big 12 Conference Championship.
  • Helped her TCU team to a victory against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship consolation round.

Horsemanship Rider of the Month: Sara Parr, Georgia

  • Posted a 4-0 record in Horsemanship in the month of March.
  • Named to SEC All-Champion Team in Horsemanship.
  • Earned MOP in SEC Championship round.
  • Both regular season wins came on the road, one against a ranked opponent.
  • Currently has the second most victories of any SEC rider with 9.
  • Is tied for the most MOP honors of all competitions in the SEC with 5.
  • Has second most number of MOPs in conference competition only with two.
  • Holds highest scores of both SEC only competitions and all competitions.

Reining Rider of the Month: Allie Dusha, Auburn

  • Posted a 5-0 record in Reining for the month of March.
  • Earned two MOP honors at the SEC Championships, defeating Georgia’s Kyndall Harper, 145-143, and South Carolina’s Sarah Bouchard, 146.5-143.
  • Claimed five victories in March with two wins coming on the road and two on a neutral site.
  • Topped Baylor’s Maddison Smith, 67-65, as Auburn upset No. 3 Baylor, 13-7, to begin the month.
