WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association on Thursday announced its March Riders of the Month, recognizing outstanding performances from the final month of the 2013-14 collegiate equestrian season.
Auburn’s Quincy Hayes was named the March Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month. She went 4-0 in the month of March with 1 MVP honor, earned at the SEC Championship. She averaged a score of 82.5 throughout the month of March. She earned scores of 87 and 89 in the consolation round of the SEC Championship to garner MVP accolades.
Auburn’s Demi Stiegler was named the March Equitation On The Flat Rider of the Month. She went 4-0 in the month of March with 1 MVP honor. She won both of her match-ups at the SEC Championship, winning by an average margin of 37.5 points. Her MVP honor came after scoring a 90 against New Mexico State, her second score of 90 or better this season. She was the only Auburn rider to win her flat point at No. 1 South Carolina.
Kansas State’s Kelly Boviard was named the March Horsemanship Rider of the Month. The senior captain went 3-0 in the month of March with one MVP honor, moving her record to 12-0 on the season. She scored a 74.5 on senior day against TCU, helping her team to a 10-9 win. She posted wins on both days of the Big 12 Championship, including helping the Western squad to an 8-1 win in the Big 12 consolation round.
Oklahoma State’s Justine Peters was named the March Reining Rider of the Month. She posted a 4-1 record in reining during the month of March, earning one MVP honor. She boasts an 11-2 record with three consecutive wins and victories in six of her last seven matches. Peters went 2-0 at the Big 12 Championship with individual wins against Kansas State and Baylor.
