WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association has announced its representatives for the Collegiate Reining Championship at the 2018 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby. The event will take place at 1 pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Every year, the NRHA holds a Collegiate Reining Championship at the Derby, and it gives some of the top NCEA Reining athletes a chance to compete on one of the biggest stages in the western reining world. The winner of the Collegiate Reining Championship receives the Morrison Bronze trophy, which is donated by the NRHA.
The NCEA participants who automatically qualified are the 2017-18 Ariat NCEA first-team All-America reiners.
In addition, four other riders from NCEA sponsoring institutions are added to the competition and are selected by the NRHA. They must apply and be selected out of numerous candidates.

The NRHA Derby runs for one week each summer in Oklahoma City on June 23-July 1, 2018 and showcases the world’s best reining horses. Thousands of spectators, exhibitors, and horses attend the event each year. The Derby is one of two major events presented by the NRHA each year in Oklahoma City.
